Sunday eve we enter the void of the new moon. An Ashlesha moon is a no bs one. You may feel the potency already and instead of the wind down/introversion of other new moons this one feels a little feisty. I'd like to introduce you to my friend the snake. And before you think I'm being inappropriate (there are other platforms for that for you to become the only fan of) and in some ways this isn't the wrong setup to where I'm going. A snake is a mysterious, misunderstood, alluring, hypnotic and potentially very dangerous creature. The way she shines in the right light, the way he is compared to phallus. In this animal we see the good, the bad and the shadow.
The nagas in the vedic tradition are half human half serpent and live under the earth or water. They represent the riches of the subconscious and the eternity of the universe. And of course we cannot mention snakes without referencing the kundalini, the shakti that lies at our root chakra. There is a multitude of power to uncover here this new moon. But let's get to the warning arising. Ashlesha is bringing the tongue of the snake (with its venom) to us all this weekend. This allows us to paralyze our enemies (outer or inner) of an agitating aspect in your life/mind atm. There is a destructive element to this snake energy so CAUTION is advised. Especially with what you say - particularly to others - though we can be even more so destructive with our inner critic too. So my main word of counsel here is to bite your tongue if you're feeling particularly fired up. Let it go through your body - cardio, dancing, sex etc - then revisit it after the weekend and see if you still need to express. Of course if you are in a negative situation this is all the jet fuel you need to destroy whatever is in your way. This is the new moon before our good friend Mercury turns retrograde on August 5th. Those with Gemini and Virgo ascendants or moon - it's time to get freaky again. This retrograde is a turning point for us all regardless of ascendant and signals a change of gear for the second half of the year. Get your affairs in order and I'll meet you on the roller coaster. Stay light, Mark :) #astrology #vedicastrology #jyotish #newmoon #astrologersofinstagram

I'm about to give you all of my money
And all I'm askin' in return, honey Is to give me my profits When you get home ~Aretha Franklin I want you to stay 'Til I'm in the grave 'Til I rot away, dead and buried 'Til I'm in the casket you carry If you go, I'm going too 'Cause it was always you, alright And if I'm turning blue, please don't save me Nothing left to lose without my baby ~ Billie Eilish Uttarashada is a tricky full moon. It sounds great saying it means 'later victory' or 'long-lasting success' but really this comes after much hard work, sweat and tears. Patience, perseverance and persistence. But even more so residing in Capricorn this full moon this weekend asks you to get real especially about your work in the world. Where are you losing in life right now? Where can you win? What will bring you long-term happiness and where are you coasting or hitting your head against a brick wall time and time again. Some dreams aren't practical - maybe you don't have the talent/experience, or maybe you don't have the ambition/drive in that field or the confidence...or maybe it's just the wrong fit at this time. For now put down avoidant hope and without negativity evaluate honestly. Now a key word around this moon is 'unchallengeable'. It being very close to Pluto shakes us to our core. There will be an end, a death of you to make way for the birth of a better version of you. This really is that dangerous walk into the unknown and never turning back scenario. But unless you walk through the fire you will never know and sink back into the stagnant waters of comfort and mediocrity. Uttarashada is the proverbial late bloomers of the zodiac but there are no peaks higher and no peaks more remembered. Are you ready? Stay light, Mark :) #astrology #vedicastrology #jyotish #astrologersofinstagram #fullmoon And after all the obstacles
It's good to see you now with someone else And it's such a miracle that You and me are still good friends After all that we've been through ~@gwenstefani With all the planets, bar a retrograde Saturn, contained within the karmic axis this upcoming new moon fate steps in to shift life considerably under the dutiful eye of Saturn. Now Saturn like an eagle watching from above is keeping us within the truth of our endeavours and it is now we are perhaps having to give up on something not working, try another way or change an aspect of our actions (karma means action) that align more within our integrity or our goals for success. Most of all Saturn demands a reality check. Instead of mindlessly continuing - take stock. Saturn was last retrograde last year July to mid November. How did that go for you? This will give you the theme of these next 5 months - most importantly what failed during this previous retrograde time in 2023 will give you your answers on your re-try now. This is a do-over. Another chance. This is not a doom and gloom new moon crescenting on Saturday morning. Punarvasu in Gemini is like a butterfly dancing in the warm sunny breeze playing on leafy dew drops after an arduous storm. The light returns. Particularly to our mind and our relationships. There is a fresh newness in the air regardless of the challenges you face and have perhaps been denying. This new moon is the new beginning to turn your attention to gaining back what you have lost over the past 6 months or so and coming back to inner (and outer) wealth. There is a reference to 'substance' with this moon. Are you in yours? Where can you become more nourished, fertile and creative? The part I like most about a Punarvasu moon is it means 'good again'. It can point to a reconciliation or a reunion. It can also mean this is your second shot at something. Venus is connected to this new moon so relationships are rekindled or healed this month. It can also mean your creativity. Your dream to write that book that wasn't picked up by any publisher...submit it again now! Don't give up on what flames your heart for this new moon is the return to hope we have all been longing for. Try again! The storm has passed and the sun has returned (well not here in Sydney as apparently we are preparing for Noahs Ark). But you get what I mean! Stay light, Mark :) #astrology #vedicastrology #jyotish #newmoon #gemini #saturn #astrologersofinstagram #retrograde I know this pain
Why do you lock yourself up in these chains? No one can change your life except for you Don't ever let anyone step all over you Just open your heart and your mind Is it really fair to feel, this way inside? ~ Wilson Phillips In some ways the warm up to this full moon feels like a slog down to a new moon. We have had Mercury (communications) and Venus (relationships) close to the sun all month. The Sun literally brings burnout to any planets close to it. Relationships in particular have been going through transformation - either they're not working, non-existent, delayed, on the backburner or you're seeing all your relationship junk all at once. Hold on my friend *Cue Kristen Wiig on the air drums*. Mercury comes out of combustion at the end of this month and then Venus early July and things will start to feel easier, renewed and enhanced. Take this as an upgrade time of how you operate/communicate in relationships and this will have been worth it. My advice to you is: Don't make the same choices from your relating (romantic or business) past moving forward. The other thing that has been happening in the sky is Saturn (groan) has been slowing down to turn retrograde (30th). Normally a retrograde often wafts a smell of difficulty encroaching but in the case of our lord of karmic distribution it celebrates in some time off. In fact it's like being on holiday vibes from 'doing the work'. But until he turns retrograde he is slowing down and making things a little tense. Sort of like the lead up to a holiday - you've got to get all your affairs in order before you get on the plane - ie have all your work done and handed over, pack your bags, get your visas, organise hotels etc = stress. Did you know there is a black hole 4 million times bigger than our sun residing in the centre of our galaxy? And this upcoming full moon on Friday night the moon enters the lunar mansion/nakshatra of this galactic centre. You would think the centre of the milky way would be made of diamonds or rainbows but fascinatingly/eerily it is where matter goes to die. The full moon in Mula is quite profoundly simple: Get to the root of your problems this lunar cycle and then destroy it. Like passing through a blackhole they will cease to exist and so will the old version of you that continued it. Stay light, Mark :) If I were the moon I could catch your eye
I'm jealous of the moon If I were the wind I would make you fly I'm jealous of that too I wish I were the sun shining on your face Caressing like a lover I would wrap you in a warm embrace We'd be holdin' one another ~ @shaniatwain And so it goes with so many humans fables of our ancestors we have what appears to be a misogynistic tale about the moon having 27 wives and every month he visits one each day. On his monthly rounds husband moon gets stuck on his 4th wife, Rohini. Now before we get lost in the outdated story and try to unpack the issues here from a modern context, we take the essence of the story. The Moon (our mind) favours this area of the sky. There is something very special about Rohini. Taurus is where the moon feels at home and the lunar mansion of Rohini is where we feel creative, it's where we grow and it's where the mind bathes in fertility on all levels. Now as so it also goes where there is abundance there is jealousy. As one grows in light and attention another (remember those other 26 wives waiting for there husband to return) grows tired of waiting, notices the lack of attention or resents feeling un-special. This moon can swing between these two qualities - you can play either side of this coin/wife - or mind. Feeling chosen or feeling forgotten. And this new moon Thursday eve (AEST) has an almost exact conjunction with Venus. So this is Rohini moon is for all the lovers out there. Although our planet of love, relationships and the material world in general is burnt by the solar rays she is in a transformation stage. Burning the lack of love within us to create a restoration of 'love wealth' in its place. Uranus, Jupiter and Mercury also reside in Taurus this dark moon aiding their gifts. Uranus brings a fresh electric innovation here, Jupiter brings wisdom and guidance, Mercury also aids a swift change of thinking with its charming grace. With the aid of these three we can expand exponentially quickly. Now growth doesn't come with a little bit of discomfort so this may bring up old and potentially painful or lonely feelings, held-onto-what-could-have-been-why-didn't-they-love-me emotions from what feels from 'days of yore' and current situations of envy YET the sign of Taurus is searching for security and worth. So back to those other 26 wives - whether husband moon favours you or not this new moon we ALL have our unique and unequivocal value whether the light is on you or not. If you feels the pangs of jealousy over the next few days realise this is a knock at the door to turn around and choose yourself. Stay light, Mark :) #astrology #vedicastrology #jyotish #newmoon #rohini #taurus #astrologersofinstagram Every time you love me
Every time you take my hand Can you tell I'm praying? You won't stop looking at me like that Baby, when you love me Every time you stare right back Can you tell I'm praying? You won't stop looking at me like that ~Vance Joyce Through the actions we either consciously or unconsciously take we either ascend or descend in honour. This honour (or dishonour) is granted over the Thursday full moon - choose wisely - and really it's simple - What/who do you believe in? What/who do you love? The sweet worship of an Anuradha moon is a siren call to something greater than ourselves and as long as we respectfully act within what is true we are on the path to victory. If we act from a place of manipulation or strategy we are bound to descend into strife or difficulty. If you have nothing you worship or devote to in this life (this doesn't have to be a person, it can be a creative project or even grander spirituality) life tends to have no meaning. Self fulfilling disconnection often leads to retreating into an empty cave of isolation. Yet if we reach out and find the sweetness of something that connects us to a source greater than ourselves - one that unites and uplifts we find inspiration and purpose. With Venus and Jupiter together with the Sun - these two teachers (Venus and Jupiter) are guiding us onto a trapeze of harmonising and expanding our realities. From our demons to our godliness we find a way to love/see it all and integrate into our sense of esteem (sun) and with that we achieve something. This Scorpio moon may be the moon that transcends, transmutes and transforms energy within you to something greater. I encourage you to not sit in your shit and stagnate - let the energy ascend. Sure acknowledge the shadow (especially if you're in denial/avoidance) but when you become a self help vampire that constantly indulges in what's wrong (or right) with you you'll only find more data to back it up cause hey - we are all a bloody mess. Let's move on, suckers! It's a moon to focus on something outside of yourself so stop doing 'the work' if it's just another excuse at self absorption. What or who can you lift up this full moon? Stay light, Mark :) #astrology #fullmoon #jyotish #vedicastrology #scorpio I've got the key
I've got the secret I've got the key To another way ~ Urban Cookie Collective So much has changed since the eclipse season of late March/Early April. The elasticity of time has sped aspects of life up and yet slowed and opened others. Grieving old parts of our lives is swiftly coming to an end to make way for the birth of the new and fortify it into reality. The new moon in Bharani peaking around 1pm AEST on Wednesday marks the moment to move on from a very (probably quite long and arduous) karmic bond in your life. What is a karmic bond? A karmic bond is a pattern/belief/cycle/lesson in your life that has been recurring as a theme that is bound by fate and ultimately a retribution for your souls journey to correct, heal and enlighten. Often this plays out as suffering - like a relationship dynamic, doubt of purpose, hardship in family etc - but this full moon sparks a completion of this. Often when we have such karma embedded onto us we start to cling to it like a child with a security blanket when it starts to heal and leave. Ie we resist the leaving of the suffering and because we have become so accustomed/comfortable with it we hold on to it like it was apart of our soul. It is not. Let it go. This new moon we pass through and once complete cannot not look back. You have no choice here. Yama the god of death rules this moon and it is here you see your part in all of this. It is time to accept your role in things, ask for forgiveness where needed, say thank you for the lesson and move through with love. For even though this moon is ruled by death itself it is one of creative transformation. Much like a baby safe in the womb it now passes through the birth canal, the umbilical cord connecting to the mother (much like the karma we were connected to) is cut and we take our first breath into our new lives. And here we are. You've got the key. You ARE the key. Stay light, Mark :) #astrology #vedicastrology #jyotish #newmoon #aries Karma karma karma! So much has been hovering around the karmic axis (Rahu) of late - a retrograded Mercury, Venus and soon to be Mars. We are in a time of swift change - and as always with karma it's mostly out of our hands! With Jupiter right on Uranus at the moment in Aries it's time for a radical reinvention of our belief systems. Things don't need to be slow at this time and don't be surprised that parts of your life are quickly reshuffling in brilliant and genius ways. Let them.
The full moon tomorrow night in Swati is a moon that scatters our energy. This can be negative if you don't use the energy wisely to change something stuck rather than just blown around or generally be all over the place. Underneath it all we can quickly shift and change the form of the things in your life - and really even the destruction of something can lead to new growth. Swati is not generally interested in holding onto something it is more about shifting and moving on/up/out. So apply it wisely. Mars moving into Pisces tomorrow with the karmic axis will also accentuate this feeling of instability but will perhaps bring up a more aggressive and anxious foreboding. The major warning here is this may bring feelings of being unsettled and really without sugar coating it we may be in for a bumpy ride especially if you buy into the hysteria/illusion/deception of the next few weeks or lose your anchor at this time. Mercury going direct Thursday evening will help... Lastly this is the last moon before Jupiter changes signs to Taurus May 1st heralding in another big change for us all. Depending where Taurus falls in your chart you will start to feel that shift from that house and it's worth taking a look to see how this will affect you as it's a year transit. Realistically there is ALWAYS change in the sky - change is our only constant - but this is considerable with this full moon - a clearing of sorts - and if you've been hoping for a win or a break this just might be it. Stay light, Mark :) I seen a rainbow yesterday
But too many storms have come and joined Leavin' a trace of not one God-given ray Is it because my life is ten shades of gray I pray, all ten fade away, seldom praise Him for the sunny days And like His promise is true, only my faith can undo The many chances I blew to bring my life to anew ~TLC These bubbles of time. These portals of energy. In between a lunar eclipse and an upcoming solar eclipse (on Monday night/Tuesday Morning) is BIG stuff in the skies. This eclipse only being visible to some parts of Mexico-USA-Canada in some ways is a relief for us here on Australian soil. To have the sun (the soul) shadowed by karma is no enjoyable ride. For my North American friends go gently. Even without the visible aspect these currents still flow to us on an energetic level. In light of me avoiding making blanket comments (see previous post) - I'll stick to the Vedic astrology facts. We have all the planets in 3 signs. Aquarius tenants a frustratingly tense Mars and Saturn conjunction. Pisces homes Venus, Sun, Moon and the karmic axis which causes the eclipse. Aries fires in a retrograded Mercury and Jupiter. This in itself is a compaction of energy in the sky. If you have any planets in these signs you'll be FEELING it this new moon. Even the signs opposite will be highly impacted - Leo, Virgo and Libra. Now you can read a lot online already about eclipse but my big fascination this eclipse is a little asteroid called Chiron. Chiron in mythology is the wounded centaur healer. Wounded young he helps others suffering from the lived experience of his own. This asteroid is EXACT on the solar eclipse. The new moon in Revati says we are provided with nourishment to complete this healing soooo - what's your biggest wound? Over the next couple of days search the soul to find this weakness. Where have you suffered and then you may be surprised this is now your strength in the coming days as you overcome and even more gloriously help others see the light too. Stay light, Mark :) Here is a blanket. A blanket is woven material that you throw over yourself for warmth. A child often attaches to theirs and it becomes dependent on it for comfort (particularly if a parent isn't forthcoming with affection) and a feeling of love/safety.
During this eclipse season (and during many celestial events) I like to ask questions to you lovely humans out there to see what is happening. I know how I am feeling (most of the time) but I don't assume that this is how everyone else is. For instance when I asked about the most recent lunar eclipse answers rolled in like - exhausted, angry, spacey, chaotic, weird etc. I then asked people in my real life (you know, the material reality off these contraptions we give our lives to) how they are finding it. I received answers like: I'm not noticing it, tired, excited for change. Keep in mind my gene pool is probably quite conscious/spiritually minded (if you can call the eastern suburbs of Sydney that) ie yoga classes, kirtan communities, astrology clients etc. But my point here (happy you're still reading) is that there is no blanket statement that is an ultimate true here. Humans are a complex and diverse bunch of beings living unique yet connected experiences. After reading thousands of charts over 20+ years I have come to learn this. The beauty of an astrology reading is it takes into account the individual on their spiritual journey. It doesn't assume we all will feel and act the same (especially under these big planetary events ie eclipses) nor should we due to our souls inherited karma. Now I realise my fortnightly entries can be a little this so I will try and remind myself to remain in question and suggestion rather than definitive individual outcomes. However my reason for writing wasn't just to rant my old man socks off but was to empower YOU into leaning into the unknowing during this eclipse portal. It's ok if you're not kicking/healing an old habit right now or you've met someone from the past and they didn't ruin your life and there isn't something wrong with you if you felt sane/peaceful during the past full moon. You are you and that is wonderful! More on the next solar eclipse to come (without telling you how to think/feel). Stay light, Mark :) |
