Crossing Over

All Hallows Eve was originally a time to remember the dead particularly those sainted (known as 'Hallows'). Also believed by many to have its roots in the pagan tradition Samhain/Beltane which was a ritual time to light the fires, cleanse, protect and appease as the veils of the spirits were closest to the human world at this time of the year. Quite spookily timed this year we have a full moon bang on this spiritual night of nights. In fact the moon is in Bharani which has the deity Yama as its benefactor. Yama rules death and a Bharani moon is the doorway between different worlds. A symbol for this moon is a boat which transports us from one land to another.

So apart from delving into your cupboard for your Ouija board - which in your youthful naivety made you believe your aunt Hilda was trying to contact you to tell you you left the iron on...ooo scary - or dressing up like a corpse in need of a prophylactic - this moon represents a time for us to let go of what is haunting us. I use the word haunting in all its contexts - your past, your habits, your regrets, this year...Let that shit go and create/receive some new present trajectory. This moon is with Uranus so think outside of the box. Allow your quirkiest intuition to guide you into following your own path. The more unique and eccentric the better! Don't play safe!

This moon has the shakti to cleanse and remove impurities so even more so embrace the traditions of Samhain/Beltane - light a fire write all your grievances and throw it in, get out your sage and smoke out the dead energy - then get your death frock on and scare/dance your night away. Mercury and Mars currently in retrograde are still causing halts/frustrations in your energy and communication lines so use this night to let off some steam and howl at the moon. Go on...you know you want to.

Stay light,
Mark :)

This will be the day
That you will hear me say
That I will never run away
I am here for you
Love is meant for two
Now tell me what you're gonna do
If I gave you diamonds and pearls
Would you be a happy boy or a girl
If I could I would give you the world
But all I can do is just offer you my love
@prince

And so we come to another new moon. Another new beginning. Another new cycle of lunar time. Technically new at 6:31am AEDT on Saturday morning the next two nights will be most crucial in resetting, shedding and letting go of the remanence of the Pisces full moon prior. And wow, have we all had to let go this year. In the vedic sky we've had the rare pleasure of two Virgo full moons in a month which is more so compounded by its planetary ruler Mercury recently retrograding until the 3rd of Nov. Virgo is about healing, being of service and analysing. When in balance this sign can purify energy that is out of alignment and discern what is best needed. When out of balance it can cause anxiety, over critical thinking and doubt.

The moon falling in Chitra is calling on us to use this Virgo energy to refine all the parts of life that need healing. Like an architect drafting plans for a new building we all need to have meticulous attention to detail and forethought of what we truly want to fashion ourselves into. Without this thoughtfulness (another beautiful Virgoan trait) we can't realise our beauty - inner to outer. Chitra uses the energy of Mars, which is also retrograde in our skies until mid November, asking us to formulate a plan of action. With both rulers Mercury and Mars going backward and being important to this new moon we are at a turning point but it will take work and planning. A great time to make lists, journal, workshop ideas, let go of old plans that aren't working or not what you want anymore etc. But even more so above the ideation phase it's a time to get busy and work toward something.

The symbol for Chitra is the iridescent pearl. After much buffering and layering in a mollusk this glistening gem builds arduously over time and great inner effort. Use this symbol as your inspiration. How can you be, create and feel luminous? What needs to be created, perfected or built in your own life to allow this? The higher octave of this sign and these two planets is to be of service/help to others - in our thoughts and actions. Helping/serving is a wonderful way to truly shine and leave all your doubts and anxieties where they belong - a fabrication in the mind. In fact the true beauty and healing of Virgo is when it finally learns to ACCEPT that it was a pearl all along and from its core decides it's finally time to allow itself to sparkle. Just because it can.

Stay light,
Mark :)
