New Year. New Moon. New You. Well not quite... I'm going to keep short and sweet for the first blog for this year: With retrograde Venus having a lot to say at the beginning of the year (and also ruling the year in numerology) we head inwardly into the heart of the past to start 2022. A Purva Ashada moon is fanning the flames of the heart but perhaps invigorating feelings that no longer exist or do not reside in the present reality. The symbol of a winnowing basket is key here to understanding this new beginning arising tomorrow. A winnowing basket is like a sieve - it's important to discern what is precious here and what is just dirt weighing you down. This is a process and may take some thought or arduous action.
Quite an aggressive moon promising to energise the mind and may even make one feel invincible - be careful at knowing the difference between protective strength and closing off to the world like an impenetrable fortress. For the goal here is love not survival. Yet love may be a battlefield for many of us right now. Venus herself being in Uttara Ashada and continuing to retrograde til the end of January we may not see clear results until then. But there will be a long-lasting victory ahead so stay the course and stay true to what you desire. With this new moon in vedic Sagittarius we have much to be hopeful about even if the new years blues got us off to a rocky start.

The full moon on Sunday afternoon 3:30pm AEDT will herald in some welcome relief in a few ways.
1 - On Monday the Sun entered gandanta. Gandanta means a knot. In this case the knot is when the sun is in dangerous waters (at the end of a water sign) entering the fire sign ahead of it. These two elementary neighbours are a dangerous transition boiling, evaporating or worse putting each other out.
2 - Since Tuesday we have been in a lock of karma called Kal Sarpa - where all the planets are held in a bowl between the karmic axis. This bowl presents a challenge to our free will to climb out of and somewhat feels like we are at the mercy of something out of our control.
I thought I would post this new moon post early this week to allow ample time to digest and prepare. The new moon to unfold early Saturday eve (AEDT) is a partial solar eclipse. This is a bookend or conclusion to the full moon/lunar eclipse we've recently sailed through. All that has arisen over the past week or so is the old being dredged up to be dealt with - not as punishment (though karmically it could most certainly be a lesson needing to be learned) - but as a way to release and finally move forward/onward this weekend. If there are still questions left unanswered they will come to resolution in the coming days.
Think of this like a dirty drain that is flooded with new water and cannot help but flush to the surface the old sludge that has been stuck in its pipes for who knows how long. Yes, it is time to clean your pipes my friend (why does this sound worse than intended?). Regardless...the gunk of your past is up so you have a choice: 1- clean it away while it is on the surface or 2- let it slowly drain back down to come up for another time. This doesn't take a wizard to know what's the right course. GET OUT YOUR BROOMS!
Really this is a time to say goodbye. The culmination of the full moon in Krittika which was cutting open the wound to see what was ill (inside and outside) is now brought under the protection of the new moon in Jyestha. Jyestha has the power to rise and conquer and this is my challenge for you this week as the moon (mind) wanes into darkness and the sun (soul) is in partial eclipse. If you were to act like your own elder sibling (a symbol for Jyestha), someone who looks out for you, what choices would you make going ahead? There is without a doubt a new path ahead following this weekend but until that time you need to umbrella yourself to shield from the rain of past mistakes, actions, habits etc to stop them from absorbing back in to repeat again. Be clear of what you want, who you are and where you want to go. These are potent first steps ahead. The choice is yours.

Friday night we enter eclipse season (oh dear). As of late last night the sun has entered the realms of Scorpio (in the visible sky) with Ketu. The sun communing with Ketu turns us inwardly on a journey to the past. And in this past we are letting go of something we have been devoted to or worshipped - perhaps a person, a pattern or a mindset. There is an ending needed to arrive at more of our essence - there is a space needed to be created from this loss to fill with the desire to be more in the present moment. This is an arrival of encompassing more of ourselves but this WILL take the pain of transformation.
Yes! Strap in folks for we have an earth shattering month ahead of two eclipses. The full moon in Krittika (visible Taurus) on Friday night is a strong moon yet it is partially eclipsed by the karmic axis. When the moon enters Taurus on Friday we will start to feel strong desires and perhaps an insatiable appetite of thoughts. Confusion abounds and there will be a feeling to cut, act or do right now. Here's my advice - WAIT. This is a confusing time especially Friday night and all will not be revealed until the following new moon/solar eclipse on Dec 4th.
Eclipses create chaos in both the mind and the soul. There is a shadowing which both creates deception and illusion yet also in this shadow we can finally understand why it is there in the first place. I truly believe the last two years have been immense for shadow work. Shadow work is where we look within to see what we deny in ourselves to heal. Yet it takes change and action in the external world after uncovering these truths and this is often where the habitual mind gives up and surrenders back to comforts.
So this full moon ahead is a tricky one! Sit with this feeling to move ahead yet sit with it and wait to uncover its mysteries. Where do you need to sever ties to create this space or void? It may not be the time to act but it is time to see deep into the darkness of what you have been hiding or avoiding to see what needs to be purified or burnt from your life. This will become more and more clear throughout the end of November. My Taurus and Scorpio friends (in vedic chart) will be feeling this immensely at this time. So go slow and go kind.

Every year when the moon turns new and kisses the sun in Libra the dawn of the lunar new year begins. In the sky we are not in Scorpio (as the western calendar follows) but still very definitely residing under the venusian sign of Libra. Vedic libra is not just about balance, harmony and beautifying our lives through romance and art. It also contains in it the most needed attribute in these times of justice. Justice pronounces respect for all and a genuine concern for all angles of existence; particularly the downtrodden, minority or forgotten. It is through libra we find the grace of humanity removing the ego and thirst for power. We love one another for the diversity that we all bring to the table.
It is in this new moon of Swati we have the most beautiful hindu festival of Divali - the lighting of the lamps. As we enter this new moon into the darkness (the darkest time of the year energetically as the sun is in Libra) we set the intention to light the soul. If you have a candle nearby tonight (and again I'm not liable for pyro-magic in your home) allow it to burn after the sun goes down throughout the night to the sunrise. This symbolises the divine in you holding light through these dark times and carrying you into the new lunar year. The moon safely dies and is reborn again into the new.
Swati brings through the shakti to scatter like the wind. When in a lower octave it tends to rely on external change to provide this feeling but the higher octave is the inner winds of transformation. Constant external change (such as ending work, relationships, where you live) like a shallow rooted plant only causes less and less connection to the earth minimising nutrients and a lack of feeling safe and grounded. But if you can bring the vayu/wind inside through breathwork containing the prana (life) the change of the inner landscape is where the magic truly begins. Allow the winds of change to shatter illusion, to quickly shift your perspective and find the ultimate clarity: that you are divine and always will be.

“The quantum field responds not to what we want; it responds to who we are being.” -
The full moon ahead brings us to a great juncture. To move forward we need to release the past. The moon in the first nakshatra of Ashwini in the first sign of Aries is indeed a time to begin. To heal the past and then begin again. As the sun dies below the horizon and is reborn each day above the opposite we too are surrendering the sunset behind us to rise anew. Well as new as one can be after the mud we've been dragging through. Let's just say we're getting back up again. There is hope. Ta-da!
I am going to keep this succinct and to the point. It's manifesting time. Take some time out before Thursday 1:56am AEST and write down two lists. Your first list - What I am letting go of. Let this list be whatever that smells beyond the expiry date in your life - be it people, debts, illness, work, concepts, beliefs, patterns, goals, expectations etc. Now burn this list. *Astrology with Mark is not liable for your own fire stupidities* Your second list - What am I calling in. Let this list be what you want now and in your future. Now the trick here is to NOT fall back into old rhetoric of what you used to want. WE HAVE ALL FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGED AND GROWN. (oops CAPS lock my heart). Now you can keep this list, you can frame it, your can bury it in the earth to allow it to grow whatever feels activating or if burning feels good again like an activation then I'll leave that with you.
But most importantly feel into this list. See it happening. All the elevated feelings. All the incredible details and sit in this gratitude for as long as you enjoy it! With all the planets now going forward we have in our strong and capable hands the power to make change. To choose. To begin. Happy full moon readers. You've bloody well earned it!

Blue moon, you saw me standing alone
Without a dream in my heart, without a love of my own
Blue moon, you knew just what I was there for
You heard me saying a prayer for someone I really could care for
And suddenly there appeared before me the only one my arms could ever hold
I heard someone whisper, "Please, adore me"
And when I looked my moon had turned to gold
Blue moon, now I'm no longer alone - Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart
A hasta moon contains within it the power to gain what we are seeking and place it in our hands. With Mars in a close embrace with the Sun and Moon tonight we are not in a typical dark moon phase. Often a time to shed, to quiet and enter into contemplation we have far too much going on in the sky (and our minds) to accommodate this. The powers of manifestation are ripe and there is a change on the wind that is all too obvious for those in the know. There is a great change ahead.
Pluto the planet of transformation, destruction and magic has finally moved forward in the sky. Death has happened to us all and the cycle of rebirth has begun. Crawling out of the dusty cocoon we now see with childlike eyes of what is around us and most certainly what is ahead. Yet this ahead at this stage is still very definitely what is right in front of us. There is much potency in the present. Seek it out. At all costs. Diving into the future is not where the power of manifestation lays this new moon. It is all in the now. Yes, I am now Eckart Tolle and I too have awoken on a park bench.
Once this new moon crescents at 10:05pm tonight we then can begin to act - Mars will support and expect this of us. Until then what is in your hands at the moment? What power do you actually hold (that you are potentially missing). If you look behind you, you will see the debris of the home that has held you, buffered you and also destroyed the old you for the past few months, to which you have finally left, but if you look even closer behind you will see a fresh pair of wings ready to test. Tomorrow these wings will become even more obvious but for now my mighty morphin power rangers: It's morphin' time!

As the sun and the moon sit on either side of the earth we enter a rather intriguing full moon. On one side it feels energised (particularly in a mental and practical way) yet on the other side it feels dreamy and otherworldly. As the veils thin in-between the dance of the physical world and the land of spirit we somehow hover together in the abyss. You'd think I had somewhere to go with this...but I do not. And yet that is on purpose. If we had a purpose right now. In which we do not. Make sense?
While the moon enters Pisces in the early hours we all have nowhere to go with this...other than the abyss itself. With the moon close to Neptune casting its alluring fog on the mind creating both deception and fusion we swing between truth and illusion. It is in this sweet spot balancing in between that provides the nectar for something enlightening and all encompassing. That's really the best way I can describe it. Let's dive further into the fathoms to explore this through vedic symbology.
The moon in Uttara Bhadrapada swims us into the serpent (sometimes dragon) energies of the deep waters and the atmosphere above. In fact the shakti of this moon provides the rain to fall - from above to below. In essence it is providing the balance between the three worlds. In a mundane way (let's keep it simple - we've had enough) it heralds in stability. And ain't we needing some stability right now?! Butttt hey how does that correspond with all my alluringly vague descriptions above? Well I'm glad you asked: with the Sun and Mars opposite in Virgo providing practical solutions (especially in regards to health) the moon is providing a much needed counter of spiritual attunement and a 'seeing' if you will. There is a bigger picture if you dare to open that great big eye in the middle of your forehead, It whispers something...if you learn how to encode it.

A change of pace. Or perhaps a break in our regular programming. A big astrological change is happening in our skies that is worthy of imparting. Tomorrow Jupiter is reversing back into vedic Capricorn for his final reunion with Saturn. The grand conjunction last year that had hippies everywhere rolling in patchouli and dancing like octupi on heat - you know - when we were heralding in the dawn of a new age in Aquarius in what felt like a decade ago - remember? I mean it's fair if you do not due to the fun we've been having. But yes last year was the ending and beginning of a 20 year cycle between the two largest planets in our solar system. This was big - yet hardly big enough to the scale of what has happened and on top of that it happened in Capricorn in the astronomical sky. So put that incense away and save those undulating bodyrolls for another day. We ain't out of the woods just yet. BUT there is a light at the end of this arduously long and tediously draining tunnel we have been dragging ourselves through. Is it even a drag anymore when you're just pointlessly rolling?
Some crucial dates (in AEST) to keep an eye on - October 7th Pluto moves forward again after 5 months of intensification. We have all been through an alchemical process of transformation, death and renewal. October 11th Saturn goes direct after a 6 month retrogradation period - this has been a tough one for the everyday person as Saturn has slowed us all down. Being in its own sign has made the planet of suffering and responsibility stronger for better or worse. Those out of integrity have been hit the hardest. Anyone with planets/ascendant in Capricorn will feel an almighty shift from this date. October 18th Jupiter too goes forward after a 4 month backward hike. It has almost felt like light was being squeezed out as this planet has returned to its sign of debilitation - yet the good news is Saturn is somewhat protecting us and it's the projected fear of the months ahead that is plaguing us rather than it actuality of any true doomed future. Those with Sagittarius or Pisces will be feeling this internally the most. Finally Mercury goes direct on October 19th after screwing with our plans and communication lines from September 27 (yup it hasn't Beetlejuiced us just yet) - Gemini and Virgo brace your whacky selves!
You may remember (what day is it?) previously I posted about how Jupiter, Saturn and Pluto were the big game changes in Capricorn from 2020...well this is the start of relief from all this compounded energy. Capricorn has brought such seriousness and dryness into our lives and this long drawn out planetary retrogrades has only made it more depressing....well...that is shifting and September is where I invite you dare to see the light that is coming in...let's just help each other get through this next month, earthlings.
