I seen a rainbow yesterday
But too many storms have come and joined Leavin' a trace of not one God-given ray Is it because my life is ten shades of gray I pray, all ten fade away, seldom praise Him for the sunny days And like His promise is true, only my faith can undo The many chances I blew to bring my life to anew ~TLC These bubbles of time. These portals of energy. In between a lunar eclipse and an upcoming solar eclipse (on Monday night/Tuesday Morning) is BIG stuff in the skies. This eclipse only being visible to some parts of Mexico-USA-Canada in some ways is a relief for us here on Australian soil. To have the sun (the soul) shadowed by karma is no enjoyable ride. For my North American friends go gently. Even without the visible aspect these currents still flow to us on an energetic level. In light of me avoiding making blanket comments (see previous post) - I'll stick to the Vedic astrology facts. We have all the planets in 3 signs. Aquarius tenants a frustratingly tense Mars and Saturn conjunction. Pisces homes Venus, Sun, Moon and the karmic axis which causes the eclipse. Aries fires in a retrograded Mercury and Jupiter. This in itself is a compaction of energy in the sky. If you have any planets in these signs you'll be FEELING it this new moon. Even the signs opposite will be highly impacted - Leo, Virgo and Libra. Now you can read a lot online already about eclipse but my big fascination this eclipse is a little asteroid called Chiron. Chiron in mythology is the wounded centaur healer. Wounded young he helps others suffering from the lived experience of his own. This asteroid is EXACT on the solar eclipse. The new moon in Revati says we are provided with nourishment to complete this healing soooo - what's your biggest wound? Over the next couple of days search the soul to find this weakness. Where have you suffered and then you may be surprised this is now your strength in the coming days as you overcome and even more gloriously help others see the light too. Stay light, Mark :)

Here is a blanket. A blanket is woven material that you throw over yourself for warmth. A child often attaches to theirs and it becomes dependent on it for comfort (particularly if a parent isn't forthcoming with affection) and a feeling of love/safety.
During this eclipse season (and during many celestial events) I like to ask questions to you lovely humans out there to see what is happening. I know how I am feeling (most of the time) but I don't assume that this is how everyone else is. For instance when I asked about the most recent lunar eclipse answers rolled in like - exhausted, angry, spacey, chaotic, weird etc. I then asked people in my real life (you know, the material reality off these contraptions we give our lives to) how they are finding it. I received answers like: I'm not noticing it, tired, excited for change. Keep in mind my gene pool is probably quite conscious/spiritually minded (if you can call the eastern suburbs of Sydney that) ie yoga classes, kirtan communities, astrology clients etc. But my point here (happy you're still reading) is that there is no blanket statement that is an ultimate true here. Humans are a complex and diverse bunch of beings living unique yet connected experiences. After reading thousands of charts over 20+ years I have come to learn this. The beauty of an astrology reading is it takes into account the individual on their spiritual journey. It doesn't assume we all will feel and act the same (especially under these big planetary events ie eclipses) nor should we due to our souls inherited karma. Now I realise my fortnightly entries can be a little this so I will try and remind myself to remain in question and suggestion rather than definitive individual outcomes. However my reason for writing wasn't just to rant my old man socks off but was to empower YOU into leaning into the unknowing during this eclipse portal. It's ok if you're not kicking/healing an old habit right now or you've met someone from the past and they didn't ruin your life and there isn't something wrong with you if you felt sane/peaceful during the past full moon. You are you and that is wonderful! More on the next solar eclipse to come (without telling you how to think/feel). Stay light, Mark :) Who else is beginning to feel a little...how do I say...strange?
We have entered the eclipse season and the full moon beckoning is starting to do its weird thing warping and contouring our minds in odd ways. In exactly a week - approx Monday 4pm-8:30pm AEDT - the full illuminated moon will be eerily shadowed as a crescent in our sky as the karmic axis takes a huge bite out of it (for a little over an hour). This rational and discerning full moon in Virgo is very much upstaged by all the mystical mad hatters picnic opposite in Pisces. Neptune, Sun, Rahu, Chiron and Pisces all join forces at conjuring a very spiritually amplified energy over onto the moon. We could be feeling A LOT. And also feeling a sense of confusion of identity, crisis in healing, lost in fantasy and romance and downright wackily otherworldly. This really isn't a good time to do anything where you can rely on sound judgement or critical thinking. At best it could be a time of elevated consciousness and connection but it may also not be tied to this material world and you could end up in a most precarious situation. Be careful Alice all is not what it seems!!! Those mushrooms you ate when you became a giant, then shrunk, followed a geriatric white rabbit in a vest down a hole and spoke riddles with a hookah smoking giant caterpillar aren't to be relied upon to get you ahead in life. Don't even get me started on that baked Cheshire cat. The karmic intrigue of this lunar eclipse is one of healing. There is a lot coming up now to work through/with if you clear away the cobwebs, clouds, rainbows and talking flowers. Being in the past won't help you as this needs to be addressed now in the present. Don't get lost in the grand illusion of the mind but be aware this is also highly likely so tread carefully and take time to question everything until you feel clear. In the Vedic system this isn't a great night to be out and about as the world will be disturbed and it's not a great practice to look at the physical eclipse as this will compound the mind further (it's visible about 7pm). Depending where this is in your birth chart will tell you where and how to heal all this eclipse energy. I've returned from India and back on the scheduler so if you need some clarity just go to my website and book in a reading to help you through. (Booking link in bio). Stay light, Mark :) #astrology #jyotish #vedicastrology #lunareclipse #pisces #virgo Somewhere over the rainbow
Bluebirds fly Birds fly over the rainbow Why then, oh, why can't I? If happy little bluebirds fly Beyond the rainbow Why, oh why can't I? ~ Judy Garland What an interesting full moon approaching! Yes, I am aware 'interesting' is never a jaunty trip ahead. I'll continue. Saturday evening sitting alone in the sign of Simha (Leo) the moon gazes across the earth at all the planets residing in 4 signs - Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces and Aries. Mars and Venus are in war with one another in the industrious Capricorn - it is here the planets of pleasure (venus) and action (mars) are asking for patience, commitment and dedication. There will be friction, passion and disagreements in relationships at this time. The key here is to LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN as they reside in the lunar mansion Shravana. Walk in another's shoes before you just throw your own around, Dorothy. Elphaba has a story too - and some stolen ruby slippers at that. We then move to Mercury and Saturn providing a planetary hug around the Sun in Aquarius. There is a distancing birds eye view effect happening to your logic, sense of self and your karmic lessons right now. There is a need to break free of old moulds that don't fit or aren't aligned to our truth. This is a go it on your own rebellion. There is much healing here if you innovate and think outside of the box. BEWARE there may be a crisis of ego at this time which leads to something better. Now Jupiter and the Moon are both in fire signs at this time. Jupiter is asking us to initiate new beliefs and potentially give birth to new projects in Aries. The Moon (our mind) though is glancing back at our past. At our ancestors, family, where we've come from. There is a mourning of where we've been before we move forward on all this new rebellion of new/different/alignment. You can now understand why I used the word interesting. I ain't going to sugar coat it. This is not a full moon for the faint hearted. In fact a Magha moon is asking you to be mighty not weak or a victim. With all this confusing celestial energy above influencing us down here on earth: pay your respects to your past, see the bigger picture in your present and hold true to you as you walk into your future. Stay light, Mark :) This Saturday morning (AEDT) we enter the dragon with the celebration of Chinese new year. The way I understand the Chinese new year (and correct me if I'm wrong) but each year is lined up with Jupiters transit through the zodiac belt/signs. Jupiter residing in Aries (which the dragon reflects) marks fiery new beginnings this year. Aries is a youthful, pioneering and brave sign but can also bring violence and aggression when in a negative state. This year will be an explosively energetic year to remember.
Now back to Vedic culture (where the new year doesn't begin until April) we find the new moon in Dhanishta. Dhanishta asks you to follow the beat and rhythm of your own drum to earn recognition. It's a prosperous new moon with the power to bring people together. Not a new moon to be alone. And with all these planets in Capricorn - Sun, Moon, Mercury and an exalted Mars - it's time to get work done - and you have the energy to do it. You want to achieve something? Begin. You want to complete something? On your bike. All of these planets are sandwiched in by Venus in Sagittarius and Saturn in Aquarius so the power of love is holding all of this in an embrace - commitment is a word that resonates with this new moon. What and who is worthy of commitment at this time? And most of the time it's YOU my friend. Stay light, Mark :) Tomorrow night we enter the illumination of a full moon in Pushya. Now I want to talk numerology (this is the most mathematics you'll ever read from me) - 2024 is an 8 year. 8 is ruled by Saturn. Pushya is the 8th nakshatra (or lunar mansion). Pushya is also ruled by Saturn. Saturn is the lord of time, karma and lessons to do with these. Now 2024 is a start slow, work hard, and achieve big kind of year. This is a get serious year. Long term changes. What you reap you sow. Things may be delayed but they are not denied. Patience is required but so is commitment.
Ok now that is off my chest I shall put my calculator away (and my limited numerology knowledge) - and really there was no math involved other than me saying the same number a few times and throwing some self help comments your way. But back to Pushya. A Pushya full moon is asking you to worship something. Put in the hard work and raise yourself up. For when you do this like a mother feeding her child milk you will be nourished and supported by the world. Really this is a lovely full moon (I won't talk about the eclipses to come this year...just yet). With Mars and Mercury together in Sagittarius we are thinking and starting to act towards our higher dreams. With Pluto and Sun close in Capricorn (yes in the actual sky Pluto is still in the early degrees of Capricorn) we are transforming ourselves into something new which takes integrous hard work. But even with all this hard work and seeking our higher ideals this full moon hopefully will hold you. Like a mother embracing her child while it sleeps after a feed in content bliss this is the energy to cultivate within yourself. With all the change, fear and expectation of the past few months in some way this lunar illumination will shine in a balm of love and containment to remind you like a flower there is time to grow and there is time to bloom. Happy blooming. Stay light, Mark :) So much to think about, I'm down beside myself
And I don't know why So when in doubt, I let it out 'Cause it's okay to cry See, when I have a dream I wonder what it means And what it says about my life But it's never what it seems On the cinematic screen So I don't even wanna try ~ Gabrielle Aplin New year impressions dim behind the fire of the new moon. The impulse to find meaning missing, or missing when you had meaning. An overreach, a dream too big or too small, a seeking of pastures that outgreen reality or reality that is no longer. What are you seeking? There is a need to purify now to gain what you desire. Victory is nigh but not without both a burning away of dross and a cleansing of self required. If this is already in motion then success is near my dear friend. If you feel like a path is nowhere in sight then we have some burning to do. A task during the new moon would be to do a simple burning ritual. Write down every hindrance, fear, obstacle that is being carried/indulged/loved/despised and burn them in a bowl. From here we then do a water cleansing ritual - a swim in the ocean or a bath/shower will suffice. From here we are clear to choose/act. A Purvashada new moon requires invigoration. But this needs to be in alignment - neither foolish or foolhardy - but true to you. In some ways this fits in with the old diatribe of setting new year intentions but there is more to it - less about self judgement and jumping on the collective bandwagon and more a pulling away from the group and pulling back your own bow and aiming your arrow towards whatever lights you up. With so much in Sagittarius and its ruler in Aries we need to act. We need to choose. We need purpose. Take a risk my friend...life is precious. Stay light, Mark :) It's coming on Christmas
They're cutting down trees They're putting up reindeer Singing songs of joy and peace I wish I had a river I could skate away on ~Joni Mitchell I don't know about you but December always feels like a runway. We start slow and somehow it just takes off. And fight as you might to do this year calmly or with composure BAM it does it's thing and you're in the holiday whirlwind. Rockin' around the Christmas tree, Rudolphing the reindeer and Santa babying your butt around town. So with that in mind I'm getting in early before the rush, before my holidays begin, for the final full moon of 2023. We have two planets retrograde at the moment - Jupiter (ruling expansion, wisdom and purpose) and Mercury (ruling communications, business and intellect). These two have a big say these holidays. Both in fire signs of Aries and Sagittarius - both pointing to us revisiting dharma - particularly Jupiter. Dharma means purpose, righteous path or tradition. A way of live living in truth and by ones values. Being fire driven it lights up our passion. All of this is being reconsidered this holiday season and these two planets move forward together over a two day span - Jupiter New Years Eve and Mercury on the 2nd of January. So yeah things may not go to plan this holiday season but it's a final tidy up before the new year. The full moon on the 27th of December has the sun in Mula and the moon in Ardra. Mula is asking us to get to the root of something. Either to see the truth or pull it out and change it. Ardra is a tear drop or storm so there may be amplified feelings building to be released. I mean as fun as this season can be it can also be a bookmark or yardstick which can lay heavy reflections on the heart for some. My wish this year is we all remember our human family (other than just our own) and we pray for peace in all our hearts. Well that's me for 2023. So much love and gratitude to you all for even wanting to read my reflections. Wishing you all a beautiful and bighearted Christmas (or whichever dharmic tradition you follow...if any at all). Stay light, Mark :) Ps A final reminder my reading rates go up Jan 1st so get in to book a gift voucher or reading at the old price now. Hold on to what you try to be
Your individuality When the world is on your shoulders Just smile and let it go If people try to put you down Just walk on by, don't turn around You only have to answer to yourself ~ S club 7 As I write this morning the sun has entered sidereal Scorpio and is in a much happier home. For the past month the Sun, the planet home to our will, has been at its dimmest. You may be feeling fatigued or lacking in self confidence. Thus why the new moon previous is always celebrated as Diwali in India - the festival of light. We light the lamp to light the darkness (your vitality and courage) within. That being said the Sun and Mars are in a dance together from the past new moon to the next. All things Scorpio are heightened. This is the time of transformation my butterflies. The Sun represents our atma or soul but on a human level it is our authority and strength of self. Mars is the devoted and disciplined warrior. Together this tango leads us into action. This action though may bring friction and turbulence. It is a lunation cycle to confront all that needs to be changed in your life. But before you get all high and mighty about what isn't serving you and how you deserve to be treated better - bring this back to you. What do you do in your life that brings all this shit to you? How do you avoid, act or speak out of alignment with your true dignity. Let's not bypass here or place blame on others. This is all you and you have the power to change this now. All. By. Yourself. Stay light, Mark :) Whenever they rebuild an old building, they must first of all destroy the old one. ~Rumi
Dear readers. We have been through a lot together. The past month particularly has had an intensity to it reflecting upon and completing a lot of shadowy/avoided and repressed lessons. We now arrive at the final eclipse for the year and much is to change by the end of the month. We are at the point of crisis where we shall find healing but one needs to walk through the death of the underworld, leave all of the past and what is known behind and courageously birth into the unknown. Trust. I was thinking about writing a specific blog for each ascendant (as referenced in previous post) but I feel collectively we are quite aligned in this partial lunar eclipse on Sunday morning (5am-6am AEDT) for it to be relevant whichever way I write it. Ok so the counsel here is to watch your energy/actions/communications and ego in relationships (personal or professional) this weekend. We are at a rocky end to a perilous journey and we are all becoming weary, confused and short tethered. Some things sure need to be forgiven, forgotten and let go of. Some even quite dramatically will or have ended ferociously/fiercely. But we are talking about destroying one building here not the entire street. Remember who your friends and loved ones are. Baby and bathwater situation. Poor Baby. Nobody throws Baby out with the bathwater. (couldn't help my Swayze there). As the moon is partially eclipsed we are feeling confused, fatigued and maybe making shit up in our heads. Be careful not to let your thoughts at this time dominate you into making peculiar/out of alignment decisions you could regret very shortly after. It's time to be as balanced and clear as you can and stick to the small stuff. Ie go back to basics and no I don't mean K-Mart. Though the K-mart of your mind. Anko. Ok I clearly also have eclipse head. But you get it, right? Then night after the eclipse the karmic axis changes sign to the Pisces-Virgo axis and here is when we will see effect of all the hard work we have put in/or suffered through. Jupiter is then free from the chaos of Rahu (karmic axis) and quite quickly we shall see more expansion and movement on the horizon. Really these are exciting times just keep your K-Mart head until next week. Please. Stay light, Mark :) |
